So what is a 10x Moonshot Goal, and why am I so obsessed with them?  

Maybe you have noticed, but I have been a bit obsessed with moonshots – or 10x goals. I have Astro Teller to thank, along with JFK, who decided that we would send a man to the moon. JFK was literally shooting for the moon, but he was also telling us to do the same. He challenged us to dream big dreams and say them out loud to the world. 10x dreams are dreams – or goals – where you might have a 10% chance of achieving it. 

10x dreams are your wild, imaginative goals that you write down and believe that they might not be impossible, but that there also might be a chance they could come true. They are important because they are a metaphor for faith, courage and love. I believe that most of the time, we are not bold enough in our dreams, nor are we specific enough in our plans and focus in order to make them real. As we emerge from our worst year in a century, I hope you will pick three moonshots and make them your mission for 2021.  

It’s a good year for transformation.  My hope is you won't allow distractions or people's doubt (or your own) to steal your promise of what could be or would be.  Don’t let 2020 dull your dreams. In fact, I challenge you to go even bigger. We can achieve any audacious goal our mind dreams up…but if we don’t dream it up, we’ve got no chance.   

That’s it. There it is. It’s the one trait I love about my mom and brother and loved most about my dad. I loved that he was a crazy dreamer. I loved that he failed and got back up. I love that he had 10x goals. It’s the thing I miss most about him: this energy he had that made us believe in courage, faith, perseverance and kindness. That’s what I remember most about him…not a big house, or material objects he might have had. It was his ability to transform lives because he believed in them.  

So tonight, tomorrow, or next week, I hope you will pull out a sheet of paper and make up your crazy 10x goals. I hope you will write them down and send them to us!
